In Memory of Cassandra

Women be wise, keep your mouth shut, don't advertise your man Don't sit around gossiping, explaining what your good man really can do Some women nowadays, Lord they ain't no good They will laugh in your face, Then try to steal your man from you Women be wise, keep your mouth shut, don't advertise your man Don't be no fool

Is it an earthquake or simply a shock?
Is it the good turtle soup or merely the mock?
Is it a cocktail, this feeling of joy?
Or is what I feel the real McCoy?

Is it for all time or simply a lark?
Is it Granada I see or only Asbury Park?
Is it a fancy not worth thinking of?
Or is it at long last love?

Is it an earthquake, or simply a shock?
Is it the good turtle soup, or is it merely the mock?
Is it a cocktail, this feeling of joy?
Or is what I feel the real McCoy?

Is it for all time or simply a lark?
Is it Granada I see or only Asbury Park?
Is it a fancy, not worth thinking of?
Or is it at long long long last love?

--written by porter, sung nicely by frank sinatra

Psychology has gotten to me. I hate feeling like everyone knows everything about me without even knowing me. I mean, to a degree it's reassuring to know how similar we all are, but at another level I'd like to think I've got some surprises in reserve.

I really like this song. It's probably in my top 3 Frank Sinatra swings. There's something sexy about the dynamic. I'd say my top 5 Sinatra swings are:

-I get along without you very well
-at long last love
-I thought about you
-I'll be seeing you
-The way you look tonight

I have trouble finding "I get along without you very well", but it's truly a great song, and it really catches me. Sigh. My feel good music comes to the rescue once again.

I get along without you very well,
Of course I do,
Except perhaps in spring,
But I should never think of spring,
For that would surely break my heart in two.
